About the Client
Calificadas is an Argentinian-based startup, founded by a mother and daughter, with a mission to provide communication and oratory training to Spanish-speaking women in the workforce. Their goal is to empower women with essential skills to enhance their professional lives and career opportunities.
The situation
After 16 years of expertise in communication and oratory, and with a proven training method that consistently delivered exceptional results, Calificadas wanted to expand its impact by offering its services through a mobile application. They aimed to scale the opportunities they provided to women locally and reach a wider audience, ensuring the solution was practical, innovative, user-friendly, and agile.
Our solution
In August 2022, Calificadas approached us with the goal of advancing their project to the next level. Initially, they wanted a platform that could act as an Oratory Coach, providing videos and tutorials to their users. However, as the project evolved, it shifted into an online platform offering structured oratory lessons, a guided learning path, and online certifications. Given the nature of their business, the team decided to focus on building a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and gradually adding more features. One key decision we made was to transform the platform into a Progressive Web App (PWA) and launch it in both the iOS and Android app stores. The first challenge was getting the PWA into the app stores, which involved overcoming technical obstacles. Our solution was to convert the PWA into native apps using embedded WebViews, a cost-effective and efficient approach that met the client’s expectations. As the project progressed, Calificadas expanded their requirements, integrating features like a payment gateway (Mercado Pago), Power BI and Google Analytics integration, and customer support tools such as Intercom and Bluerabbit. Throughout the development process, tasks were initially divided between development and UI/UX design. As the platform grew, we introduced new task categories such as maintenance and support, as well as distinctions between frontend, backend, and database tasks to ensure smooth workflow and optimal performance.
