About the Client

Calificadas is an Argentinian based startup, founded by a mother and daughter, whose mission is to provide knowledge on communication and oratory to Spanish-speaking women of working age.

The situation

After 16 years of working in the field of communication and oratory, and with the development of a training method that produced amazing results, Calificadas decided they wanted to expand their business through an application. The main idea was to deliver the same opportunities and tools they brought to women locally, and expand it to a broader audience. They wanted something useful, innovative, creative, simple but agile. So they decided to contact Devlights.

Our solution

In August 2022 Calificadas reached out to us because they wanted to take their project to the next level. They wanted a product that would act as an Oratory Coach and also a platform that could display videos/tutorials about this topic to their students/clients. With time the project started shifting and it ended up as an online platform with oratory lessons, including a learning path and online certifications. The team at Calificadas had to give up certain features because it made more sense to start with a Minimum Viable Product and then add more features. Before the end of the development of this MVP we made the decision to bring the PWA (Progressive Web App)to the App Stores of both IOS and Android. The initial challenge we encountered was getting this PWA onto the app stores, whether it's Google's Play Store or the Apple App Store. It was quite a hurdle, but we managed to find a solution. We adopted a new approach to transform web applications into native Android and iOS apps by using embedded WebViews. This technology was both cost-effective and fast, meeting the client's expectations. Later on, several business changes emerged, including the integration of a payment gateway using Mercado Pago, integrations with Power BI and Google Analytics, as well as integration with Intercom and Bluerabbit. Initially, the tasks were divided into Development Tasks and UI/UX Tasks, but as the application grew, other types of tasks and statuses were added to the Sprint board. Among others, tasks related to Maintenance and Support were included, as well as a distinction between Frontend, Backend, and Database tasks.
